OpenStack Cluster with Synology iSCSI Backend Storage
Most OpenStack storage guides jump straight to Ceph. That is the right answer for production, but it is a lot of machinery for a lab. If you already have a Synology DSM box, there is a much lighter option: Cinder ships an in-tree driver for Synology (SynoISCSIDriver) that creates one iSCSI LUN per volume. In this post I connect a multinode Kolla Ansible deployment to Synology DSM over iSCSI, with two storage paths and multipath, and boot instances from Synology-backed volumes.

Deploy Xpenology with Arc Loader
Synology DSM is one of the nicest NAS operating systems around, but it normally only runs on Synology's own hardware. Xpenology is the community way of running it anywhere else, including as a virtual machine. In this post I explain what Xpenology and the Arc Loader are, and then walk through deploying a DSM VM on Proxmox VE, step by step.
